David Henderson was one of the men chosen to represent Liverpool in their first ever Football League season, 1893-94.

He played in 20 of the 28 games and scored 11 times as the club won the Second Division championship without losing a single match.

Liverpool tried unsuccessfully to hold on to their new status in the top flight the following season and Henderson was one of the casualties and never played for the club again.

He returned to Scotland in November 1894 and later played for Partick Thistle.
