David Davidson was a fierce-tackling central defender who played for Liverpool at the end of the 1920s after being brought in from Forfar Athletic.

He only missed six of the 42 league matches during the 1928-29 season, in which he scored once - a second-half winner in a 2-1 victory over West Ham United at Anfield on March 13, 1929.

Davidson played in the first 21 league fixtures of the following season before being replaced by Tom Bromilow.

He came back for the next match at West Ham but then lost his place to Tom Bradshaw, who played in the remaining 17 league games.

Davidson added a second goal to the one he had scored in the previous season, in a 3-3 draw at Portsmouth on November 2, 1929.

In the New Year of 1930, he transferred to Newcastle United.
