David Davidson was a fierce-tackling central defender who played for Liverpool at the end of the 1920s after being brought in from Forfar Athletic.

<p>He only missed six of the 42 league matches during the 1928-29 season, in which he scored once - a second-half winner in a 2-1 victory over West Ham United at Anfield on March 13, 1929.</p><p>Davidson played in the first 21 league fixtures of the following season before being replaced by Tom Bromilow.</p><p>He came back for the next match at West Ham but then lost his place to Tom Bradshaw, who played in the remaining 17 league games.</p><p>Davidson added a second goal to the one he had scored in the previous season, in a 3-3 draw at Portsmouth on November 2, 1929.</p><p>In the New Year of 1930, he transferred to Newcastle United.</p>
