Dave Wright's Liverpool debut was in the penultimate match of the 1929-30 season, a goalless draw with Newcastle United at Anfield on April 12, 1930.

He made 15 league appearances the following season, most of them as a replacement for Jimmy Smith, and scored six times.

Wright made a terrific start to the 1931-32 campaign when he netted five goals in the first four games and he finished up with 13 in all from his 35 league appearances that season.

He added another 14 goals in 1932-33 but although he figured in nine of the first 10 league matches the next year, he lost his place to first Syd Roberts and then briefly to Harold Taylor.

Wright wrapped up his Reds career at home to Derby County on the last day of March 1934. It was his 100th first-team appearance, in which he had hit the net 35 times.
