    Republic of Ireland U21 international Darren Potter came through from the Academy and made his senior Liverpool breakthrough in the 2004-05 season under Rafael Benitez.

    The midfielder, who was released by Everton as a youngster, made his debut in the Champions League qualifier with Graz in August 2004 when he came on as a substitute for Steve Finnan.

    Potter then made his full debut in the second leg, a 1-0 defeat.

    He saw regular action in the League Cup run in 2004 and produced some impressive performances against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough and Millwall as the Reds reached the final, where they lost 3-2 to Chelsea.

    He enjoyed a loan spell with Southampton during the 2005-06 season before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
