Full-back Bobby Thomson was signed by Liverpool from Partick Thistle in December 1962 and made five league appearances for the club towards the end of the 1962-63 season.

<p>But he was competing for a spot with the more experienced and established trio of Ronnie Moran, Gerry Byrne and Phil Ferns.</p><p>Thomson eventually left Anfield for Luton Town in August 1965 after making an additional two league appearances, and one in the FA Cup, during the 1963-64 campaign.</p>
