Full-back Bob Done came to Liverpool as an amateur in February 1926 and signed professional forms two months later.

He first featured in the Reds' league side at Bolton Wanderers on New Year's Day 1927 but that was one of only two occasions he played for the first team in the 1926-27 season.

Done made more appearances the next year and his breakthrough then came in 1928-29 when he only missed five First Division games. He was a very hard kicker of the ball and also scored five times that term, three of them being penalties.

Done was replaced by Tommy Lucas after a dozen or so matches of the next campaign but won his place back when preferred to James Jackson for a while early in 1930-31 and continued to represent the club on a regular basis for another three years.
