Right-back Bill Shepherd made his debut for Liverpool on the opening day of the 1948-49 season and only missed one of the 42 league matches played that year.

It was a superb start to his Reds career, but unfortunately for Shepherd it wouldn't last and he only managed to appear in six games during the following campaign.

He had lost his place in the side to Eddie Spicer and his time at Liverpool included just seven appearances over the course of the next two seasons.

His final match for the club came at home to Blackpool on Christmas Day 1951.
