Right-back Bill Shepherd made his debut for Liverpool on the opening day of the 1948-49 season and only missed one of the 42 league matches played that year.

<p>It was a superb start to his Reds career, but unfortunately for Shepherd it wouldn't last and he only managed to appear in six games during the following campaign.</p><p>He had lost his place in the side to Eddie Spicer and his time at Liverpool included just seven appearances over the course of the next two seasons.</p><p>His final match for the club came at home to Blackpool on Christmas Day 1951.</p>
