Past playersBill Perkins
Years: 1899-1903
Appearances: 117
Honours: League title (1900-01)
Bill Perkins was a goalkeeper who played for Liverpool right at the end of the 19th century and during the early years of the 20th.
Harry Storer had started the 1898-99 season between the posts and played in the first 27 First Division fixtures before being replaced by Matt McQueen for the next two.
Although McQueen had made many appearances in goal for the club before, he was more suited to an outfield role and Perkins' introduction into the side effectively ended his playing days.
Although Storer was picked 11 times in 1899-1900, Perkins became established as the side's No.1 until the 1902-03 season when he shared the duties with Peter Platt.
But after Platt was selected for a home game with Sunderland, Perkins disappeared out of the scene for good after 117 first-team appearances in league and cup.
He did have the satisfaction of winning a league championship medal in 1900-01, when he was an ever-present in the team along with Bill Goldie and Tommy Robertson.
