<p>Bill Perkins was established as the Reds' No.1 in the early part of the 20th century and missed only one First Division fixture in 1901-02 after being ever-present the previous year.</p><p>The only match Perkins was absent for presented an opportunity to Marshall, though Liverpool were thrashed 4-0 by neighbours Everton at Goodison Park on January 11, 1902.</p>
