Defender Ben Dabbs made more than 50 appearances for Liverpool during the mid-1930s.

<p>Signed from Oakengates Town, he was part of the starting line-up for the opening day of the 1933-34 season but that appearance at Wolverhampton Wanderers was Dabbs' only one of the league campaign.</p><p>He then had to wait until April 1935 before being selected again, when he played in consecutive matches against Chelsea (home) and Stoke City (away).</p><p>It wasn't until the 1936-37 season that he received an extended run in the side, figuring in 32 of the last 36 matches after being left out of the first six.</p><p>He played in six consecutive First Division games early in the 1937-38 season but his appearance in the home derby with Everton on October 2, 1937 proved to be his last.</p>
