Tall and powerful winger Archie Rawlings joined 1922 and 1923 champions Liverpool in March 1924, after playing 147 games in four years for struggling First Division team Preston North End.

He made his Reds debut in a 0-0 draw versus Blackburn Rovers on March 15, the first of 11 consecutive games he was picked for until the end of the season.

A year later, Rawlings only missed two matches and contributed seven useful goals from his wide position as the club improved their league standing by eight places from 12th.

After playing in 10 of the opening 11 games of 1925-26, Rawlings lost his place to Cyril Oxley and only figured twice in the second half of the season, his final first-team selection coming at Bury on April 10, 1926.
