Aly Cissokho bolstered Brendan Rodgers' defensive options when he signed up for a season-long loan spell with Liverpool in August 2013.

<p>The Frenchman joined on a temporary basis from Spanish side Valencia, having previously represented Porto and Lyon.</p><p>Comfortable at left-back and with the ability to be positioned further forward, Cissokho made a first appearance for the Reds as a substitute at Aston Villa.</p><p>He was used sparingly initially, but injuries to full-backs Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson presented an opportunity for an extended run in Rodgers' XI at the turn of the year.</p><p>Notably, Cissokho was part of the memorable Anfield victories over Everton and Arsenal, 4-0 and 5-1 respectively.</p><p>His last game of the season arrived on the final day, entering the action at half-time as runners-up Liverpool recovered from a deficit to beat Newcastle United 2-1.</p><p>In total, Cissokho made 19 appearances for the Reds.</p>
