Alex Watson made his league debut for Liverpool in a 1-0 win at Queens Park Rangers in March 1988.

<p>One more league appearance followed towards the end of that season plus a further two, one as substitute, in the following campaign.</p><p>The centre-half also made four appearances in FA Cup and League Cup matches for the Reds, and another in the Charity Shield.</p><p>However, the strength of Liverpool's squad at the time meant his chances of competing with established international players for a place in the side were extremely limited and it was no surprise when he left Anfield for AFC Bournemouth at the beginning of 1991.</p>
