Goals: 2
Albert Whitehurst transferred to Liverpool after scoring 116 goals in 168 games in Third Division North for Rochdale.
He was selected for the Reds' first XI on the opening day of the 1928-29 season and supplied the second of their three goals in a home win over Bury.
Whitehurst played in seven of the first nine First Division fixtures but then lost his place and was not recalled until early in February 1929.
That appearance at Leeds United proved to be the last of the eight times he would wear a Liverpool shirt, but he did sign off with a goal two minutes from the end to save a point in a 2-2 draw.
