Alan Scott was selected to play in Liverpool's forward line on the opening day of the 1929-30 First Division season.

<p>It was not a happy debut for him, though, as the team were beaten 5-0 at Middlesbrough.</p><p>That was his only appearance of that campaign and he had to wait until December 27, 1930 to be picked again.</p><p>This time Scott had a happier afternoon as Liverpool took a point from a 3-3 draw at Blackburn Rovers and he scored one of the goals.</p><p>He was also on target in his only other league appearance for the club, against Manchester United on Easter Monday of 1931.</p><p>Apart from the three league matches he figured in, Scott also represented Liverpool once in the FA Cup, in a third-round defeat at Birmingham City on January 10, 1931.</p>
