Alan Irvine was signed for Liverpool by Kenny Dalglish from Falkirk in November 1986.

<p>One of his best games for the Reds occurred in the League Cup quarter-final against Everton at Goodison Park.</p><p>The Reds won 1-0 and Irvine came off the bench to make a superb impact, with his energy down the flanks playing a big part in the victory.</p><p>All four of his appearances for the club came as a substitute during that 1986-87 season, across three different competitions.</p><p>He returned to Scotland to join Dundee United in the early weeks of the next campaign.</p>
