Honour: FA Women’s Championship (2022)

Rachel Furness is a key member of Liverpool FC Women’s squad and a legend at international level with Northern Ireland.

After arriving from Reading in December 2019, Furness injected a wealth of quality and experience into the Reds’ group.

Furness has been a regular in the Barclays Women’s Super League, where she will again play in 2022-23 having helped Liverpool win the FA Women’s Championship title.

An unforgettable 2021-22 season also saw her become Northern Ireland’s record goalscorer by netting twice in their World Cup qualification win over North Macedonia in November 2021.

Furness was subsequently named BBC Northern Ireland Sports Personality of the Year and made further history as Northern Ireland qualified for the European Championship, their first appearance at a major women’s tournament.

Her career began in her hometown of Sunderland and, after spells with Newcastle United and Icelandic team Grindavik, she re-joined the Mackems for a further six seasons in 2010.

Nearly three years at Reading followed before Furness headed to Tottenham Hotspur on loan prior to signing for Liverpool.
