This October, Liverpool FC Women is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month, alongside principle partner AVON and the beauty company’s breast cancer charity, 'CoppaFeel!'.

As part of AVON’s partnership with Liverpool FC Women - the first independent shirt sponsor to grace the front of the club’s shirt - the company for women will take over the Reds’ match against Yeovil Town on October 14 to share the important checking message with women in Liverpool and five million women across the UK.

The squad will wear the AVON x CoppaFeel! eyelash t-shirt to help raise awareness of the importance of boob checking, which will then be signed and given to lucky fans in attendance. Supporters can also take part in a number of activities, including a ‘boobie penalty shootout’, and visit the CoppaFeel! stand to pick up a ‘Boob Brunch’ fundraising pack and awareness materials.

Breast cancer is still the most common form of cancer amongst women in the UK, with one in eight women diagnosed with the disease each year; however, a quarter of women still aren’t sure how to check their breasts with less than one third checking on a regular basis.

Over the past 26 years, the beauty giant has raised nearly £20million for breast cancer charities, and last year partnered with CoppaFeel! to encourage more women, and men, to know what’s ‘normal’ for them, and help the early detection of breast cancer.

LFC Women support AVON during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

AVON UK general manager, Matthieu Comard, says: “We want to encourage people across the UK, regardless of their age or gender, to check their boobs or pecs once a month as well as raise money to support our charity partner CoppaFeel!.

“The support of Liverpool FC Women allows us to reach even more women throughout the UK and across Merseyside to help reach our target of sharing the boob checking message with five million women this BCAM.”

Natalie Kelly, CEO of CoppaFeel!, added: "Knowing your boobs really can save your life. At CoppaFeel! we encourage people that it's not about looking for cancer, but to be aware of the signs and symptoms and know their normal. Then, if something doesn’t feel right they have the confidence to get checked out and seek medical advice.

“It’s fantastic to have the support of AVON and LFCW to remind, educate and empower the nation to check their boobs."

Leandra Little, club captain of Liverpool FC Women, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month alongside AVON. Breast cancer affects so many people and we want to do our bit to help raise awareness, and encourage as many fans as possible, both women and men, to check their breasts or pecs. We’re looking forward to welcoming AVON and CoppaFeel! to Prenton Park on Sunday.”
