Dominic Solanke reflected on the 'amazing' feeling of scoring his first goal for Liverpool after Wednesday's win over Crystal Palace, describing the moment as 'worth the wait'.

The Reds booked a place in this weekend's Premier League Asia Trophy final as strikes from the club's new No.29 and his fellow forward Divock Origi earned a 2-0 win over Frank de Boer's team.

And, speaking after the game at Hong Kong Stadium, Solanke could not hide his delight at getting off the mark in just his third outing for LFC.

"It was a fantastic night for me," he told

"The fans were amazing today, they made a great atmosphere, so to get my first goal in these circumstances was amazing.

"The first two games I came close a couple of times but it was worth the wait."

The 19-year-old also waxed lyrical about the welcome he has received from his new teammates during the early stages of pre-season.

"It's been a really good start to pre-season, getting to know the boys and coming away to Hong Kong," he added.

"Everyone's made me feel very welcome, it's a great bunch of lads.

"To come away to Hong Kong and to work together to get fit, everyone needs each other, and they've made me feel welcome."
