Liverpool are preparing a move for Udinese’s highly-rated Polish international Piotr Zielinski.

In one of the worst kept secrets among the terraces of Anfield, Klopp and other members of the infamous Liverpool transfer committee have been monitoring the progress of the 21-year-old midfielder who has been on-loan at Serie A side Empoli.

It was only last month that the player himself dropped a huge hint that he’d be keen to play alongside Philipe Coutinho, before going on to admit the truth behind the rumours linking him with a move to Anfield.

"There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks," Zielinski told Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty.

And now, the Udinese director of sport Cristiano Giaretta confirmed an interest from the Premier League club but hinted that the Reds could face competition from other sides in England for Zielinski’s signature:

"There is interest from Liverpool and it is concrete interest,’ Cristiano Giaretta told Italian radio station Radio Punto Zero.

"He is doing very well and has the eyes of the Premier League on him."
