Borussia Dortmund have hit back at reports Ilkay Gundogan could leave in the summer.

Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old, as they seek to beef up their midfield.

Liverpool have also been tracking Gundogan, with Jurgen Klopp thought to be keen to raid his former employers for players.

Reports emerged over the weekend suggesting Manchester City will win the race for Gundogan.

It was suggested City had agreed a five-year deal for the star, with incoming manager Pep Guardiola eager to stamp his mark at the club in the transfer window.

But news of a move for Gundogan has bemused Dortmund.

“I only learnt about this myself from the newspapers,” Dortmund’s director of sport Michael Zorc said.

In a sarcastic tone, Zorc said: “It’s nice when you learn about something like this in this manner.

“We don’t comment on transfer rumours.”
