Liverpool’s supposed interest in Cologne defender Jonas Hector has led to head coach Peter Stoger admitting that the player could leave this summer.

Hector, the 25-year-old left-back that has emerged as a regular in the German national team, has earned plaudits following a series of strong performances in the Bundesliga which has resulted in the 25-year-old earning 12 caps for his country.

The versatile defender has become a reported £12million target for Jürgen Klopp this summer.

And, when speaking to German magazine kicker Cologne coach Peter Stoger was forced to admit that Hector could leave the club if a suitable bid was submitted this summer.

"I don’t have to talk about what may happen in the summer," he explained.

"But if somebody should offer us a three-figure million sum, we’d probably give in.

‘"If a two-figure million sum is offered, we’d consider it.

"And if Jonas Hector says that he doesn’t want to stay here, we’d have to face up to it."
