Mario Gotze has fuelled rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool by claiming his future at Bayern Munich is "open".

The 23-year-old striker was linked with a move to Anfield in the German press on Friday morning, with Bild claiming that he was keen to link up with his former coach at Borussia Dortmund Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp is in need of more firepower as he attempts to fight on four fronts this season and Gotze - who has not held down a regular starting place at Bayern - would seem an attractive option.

And Liverpool will be encouraged by Gotze's comments to Bild this morning, when he pointedly refused to rule out a move - albeit one in the summer, rather than in January.

"Everything is still open," he said. "We will see how things go at the end of the season. I have a contract until June 2017. But of course, it is important how the new coach feels about me. The coach’s plans are decisive in the end.

"So we will just have to wait and see how things pan out. I have not really given my future much thought recently because of my injury, but everything is open as things stand. It all depends on the plans of the club and the new coach."
