Neven Subotic could be set for a reunion with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, according to reports.

The Serbia international has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks due to his lack of game time at Dortmund this season.

He has made just four appearances for the German side this term, only two of which were in the Bundesliga and is believed to be growing restless with new boss Thomas Tuchel.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp however has a great relationship with the 27-year-old, working with him at Mainz and Dortmund and is keen to bring him in on loan.

The Mirror claim talks are ongoing and Klopp is expected to bring in an 'experienced defender' by tomorrow to ease Liverpool's current injury problems.

Speaking after Liverpool's Capital One Cup win over Stoke, Klopp said: "In this situation with no centre-backs fit I would say [transfers] is something we could look at.

"It's a big shadow over the game for us, the injuries. I don't know how serious and we have to wait for this."

Meanwhile, Tiago Ilori’s 12-month loan with Aston Villa has been cancelled and he could go into the squad for tomorrow night's FA Cup trip to Exeter.

However, Liverpool still want an experienced addition in defence and have also reportedly made enquiries for Inter Milan's Andrea Ranocchia.
