Liverpool have gone a step closer to competing the transfer of Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic, according to reports.

The Serbia U21 international has been granted a British visa, and is set for a medical with the Merseyside outfit on January 4.

After the deal is done, the midfielder will return to his current club on loan until the end of the season. However, the Reds do want him back to use in the 2016-17 season, according to Serbian publication Danas.

Grujic could be Jurgen Klopp’s first signing at Anfield since arriving this season, although the 19-year-old is clearly one for the future, and may find it difficult to make an immediate impact in the Reds first-team.
