Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign Rapid Wien defender Maximilian Hofmann, according to reports.

Hofmann, 22, has shone for Wien in this year’s Europa League, helping the Austrians top their group ahead of Villarreal.

And according to Calciomercato, Klopp is keen to bring the player to Anfield, having been a fan of the Austrian since his Borussia Dortmund days.

A centre-back by trade, Hofmann can also play in central midfield, although if he was signed in January he would likely be used as cover for the injured Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren.
