Inter Milan have conceded defeat to Liverpool in the race for Marko Grujic, according to reports in Italy.

The 19-year-old is reportedly close to sealing a move to Anfield and leaving his current club, Red Star Belgrade.

The midfielder has been the subject of transfer speculation for some months now with several sides scouting him this season.

Chelsea and Inter Milan are two who have monitored Grujic closely, as have German champions Bayern Munich.

But, according to TMW, Inter have now given up in their pursuit of the Serbian as they believe he is destined for Anfield.

Liverpool are expected to be busy in the January transfer window as new boss Jurgen Klopp is given the first chance to shape his squad.
