Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan admits his future remains uncertain as the German international reaches the final 18 months of his contract.

The 25-year-old, who has previously been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, was expected to leave the Westphalenstadion in the summer before agreeing to sign a one-year contract extension that expires in 2017.

The creative midfielder has rediscovered his form under new Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel this season and would attract interest from numerous Premier League clubs should he decide to leave, especially if he were available at a relatively knockdown price.

Speaking to Sport Bild, he said: "There are no new developments as of yet. I am feeling very well at BVB and I know what I have at this club.

"I know that I will have to deal with the matter of my future at some point and that people expect me to make a decision. I want to deal with this situation in a respectful way and will sit down with the Dortmund management first and make a decision. But I do not know when that moment will be yet.

"I believe everybody here at Dortmund wants to be back in the Champions League next season and anything else would be a major disappointment.

"But that does not mean that I will definitely leave if we don't qualify. I'm not that kind of person. I would already have left last summer had that been one of the criteria for me."

Gundogan would not be drawn over a reunion with former boss Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, except to say: "They have a good team, a great coach."

The German manager has stated that there is no agreement in place that would prevent him from raiding his former club for the players that he took to two Bundesliga titles and the Champions League final.
