Liverpool believe they have beaten Chelsea to the signing of Porto midfielder Ruben Neves, according to reports.

Neves, 18, is understood to have emerged as one of Jürgen Klopp’s first transfer targets at Liverpool, with the club believed have to already made contact with the player.

Chelsea have also been strongly linked with a move for Neves, but according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool believe they have won the race for the player’s signature.

It’s also claimed that Real Madrid and Barcelona were willing to offer more money for Neves, but it appears that the Portuguese youngster has opted for Anfield.
