Liverpool have made contact with representatives of Jurgen Klopp as the Anfield club look to replace sacked manager Brendan Rodgers.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund manager is favourite to take over from the Northern Irishman, with ex-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti a strong contender.

Klopp, 48, is understood to be open to the idea of a move.

The club's owners intend to have a new manager in place for the Premier League trip to Tottenham on 17 October.
