Liverpool are preparing a £11.1million move for Schalke wonderkid Leroy Sane, according to reports.

The 19-year-old was a summer target for Liverpool and they are believed to be reigniting their interest in the German attacking midfielder after having scouts present in recent league matches at the Veltins Arena, claims SportBild.

Sane has scored three goals in his last three Bundesliga games and has become a key player for Schalke after the departure of one-time Arsenal and Manchester United target Julian Draxler to Wolfsburg.

The German under-21 international, who signed a two-year contract extension in July, turned down a move to Tottenham following an £8.5m bid in the summer transfer window, with Spurs' aim being to get the Essen-born ace on the cheap will he is still young.

Sane has made 22 appearances for Schalke in all competitions and has scored seven goals, and Schalke coach André Breitenreiter believes he is on the right track to become a top player.

"His potential shows Leroy can have a great career ahead of him, he is on the right track," said Breitenreiter.
