Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho as the search for Steven Gerrard's replacement continues.

The 24-year-old has impressed for the La Liga outfit this season, with a string of fine performances not only yielding a first senior Spain cap, but also catching the eye of a number of clubs across Europe.

It is understood Napoli tried and failed to sign the defensive midfielder - who can also operate as a centre-back - in January, but it is the Reds who are now showing an interest in the player, according to Fichajes.

Of the same ilk as Liverpool's LA Galaxy-bound captain, it has been suggested there could be some movement from Anfield for the former Atletico Madrid man over the summer, with any potential transfer likely to be for a considerable amount.
