Liverpool are said to be just one of a host of clubs who are interested in signing Lyon's young playmaker Yoann Gourcuff.

Injuries and a loss of form have halted his progress and he has struggled to live up to his billing as the new Zinedine Zidane but things appear to be heading in the right direction again and this has led his agent to claim there is interest in his player, whose current deal expires at the end of the season.

Manchester City have previously tried to sign the player, while Liverpool and Atletico Madrid made approaches during the January transfer window, according to Poulmaire.

"In any transfer window some foreign clubs are always knocking on the door for Yoann," Poulmaire told Sport Mediaset.

"In the past it was Manchester City who came forward, while this year it happened with Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.

"The top clubs follow him and know his talent and I am sure offers will come during the next transfer window."
