Manchester City  are poised to re-open contract talks with James Milner to keep Premier League suitors at bay.

Milner, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been persistently linked with a move away from the Etihad.

Arsenal have been keeping a tab on the 29-year-old with Arsene Wenger on the lookout for a world-class midfielder.

Liverpool have been tracking the England international too, with Brendan Rodgers keen to plug the void Steven Gerrard will leave behind when he moves to LA Galaxy in the summer.

Although it seemed contract talks had reached an impasse, The Daily Mail suggests neither club nor player have given up on reaching an agreement.

A lack of playing time is a sticking point for Milner, and it is thought he will push for clarification over this issue.

He has also attracted interest from foreign clubs, but it is thought the chance of signing a pre-contract deal is slim.

Milner has made 11 Premier League starts for the Citizens this term.
