Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a move for Birmingham City's teenage sensation Demarai Gray this month.

The Reds are claimed to be considering a January bid for the 18-year-old winger - who is rated as one of the most talented young players in the country - with several clubs monitoring his situation.

It is believed that Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg have tabled an offer for Gray, although Liverpool have first option on the England U19 winger.

Liverpool reached an agreement with Birmingham that allows them to match any offer made by another club for Gray as part of the deal that saw Jordan Ibe join the St Andrew's outfit on loan last season.

However, Birmingham boss Gary Rowett has advised Gray to only leave the club for a top-four team in the Premier League.

"He's a fantastic talent. I think he's best served being here until an opportunity comes his way that is befitting of his talent," Rowett said.

"For me at the moment it's only probably a top-four team that can do that. That's not being disrespectful to anyone else."
