Liverpool and Tottenham have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Fabian Delph as Aston Villa says they will sell the player - but only if they get £4million for him.

Delph, who is out of contract in the summer, has refused a new contract at Villa Park.

However, to avoid the player leaving the club on a free, they are willing to let him go during the winter transfer window but only if the receive an offer of at least £4million.

Tottenham are reluctant to meet his £60,000-a-week wage demands, however, Liverpool who consider Delph as a replacement for the outgoing Steven Gerrard, are likely to come up with a sufficient deal.
