NewsHow Liverpool's forwards have 'the best competition possible'
Sadio Mane has detailed how the competition for places in Liverpool’s attack can only benefit everyone involved.
The January acquisition of Luis Diaz further enhanced the forward options available for Jürgen Klopp’s side, who are three goals away from achieving the highest total ever scored by the club in a single season.
Mane, who has provided 20 of those strikes so far in 2021-22, feels the depth of quality in the squad is helpful on an individual level as well as for the collective.
“Having these players just helps us,” the Senegal international told Premier League Productions.
“We have many games and Liverpool are competing in all the competitions. As a player, sometimes it’s also good to rest. [If] you see your teammate is doing well and scoring, it’s something good.
“Even the competition between us is the best competition possible because we are good friends, which is really important. On the pitch we are trying to help each other.
“At the end of the day, it’s a benefit for us as players to push each other, and it’s good for the team and for the club.”
