Andy Carroll was quick to send a message of support to Liverpool Football Club's 'Ability Counts' team following last night's friendly with Valerenga in Norway.

The striker took time out to offer his best wishes to the squad, who will head off to Switzerland today aiming to mount a successful defence of their European Disabled football tournament title.

The Reds U16s will also be in the country, taking part in the Swiss U16 Cup - a competition Carroll played in for Newcastle.

He told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I would like to wish Liverpool Football Club's 'Ability Counts' football team and the Academy's U16 team the best of luck in their tournaments in Switzerland this week.

"I played in this tournament when I was at Newcastle and it helped me develop in my younger days as a footballer.

"I have met some of the players who are going and they are great characters and ambassadors for the football club, I hope they all enjoy themselves!"
