Luis Suarez has spoken of his joy after winning the Copa America with Uruguay and being named player of the tournament.

The Liverpool man scored his fourth goal of the competition to give his country the lead and then set up one of Diego Forlan's two strikes as Paraguay were dispatched 3-0 in Buenos Aires.

It is the 15th time Uruguay have been crowned South America champions and afterwards Suarez received the 'Most Valuable Player' accolade.

He said: "We have a huge joy to give this title to our people. This is an indescribable feeling.

"We played as a group. I think when groups are united like this, everyone together and going for the same thing, you can get things done.

"The important thing was getting started well. With two goals in the first half, I think it was very difficult for them to come back.

"Luckily, we reached the goal of getting to the final, which was what we wanted, and winning the title is the maximum you can get."
