Ian Ayre has hailed Liverpool's historic first visit to China as an 'amazing success'.

The Reds' Managing Director flew out of Guangzhou with the rest of the squad after last night's friendly against Guangdong Sunray Cave - leaving behind thousands of Chinese Kopites who have savoured every second of having the Reds in their country.

"It has been absolutely fantastic," Ayre told Liverpoolfc.tv before boarding the flight to Kuala Lumpur.

"The fans were amazing and it was a real eye-opener for our players - particularly the new and younger guys. It was all about giving the fans a great experience and about growing our brand in this part of the world.

"Everyone worked hard to make this trip a success. The fans put a lot into it, the players and staff put a lot into it, our sponsors put a lot into it and I think what we achieved together was fantastic.

"My message to the fans now would be to keep in touch with us and keep supporting us. A big part of our operation is to grow our fanbase all over the world and it's important to build on the relationships with the people we have met over here.

"I'd like to say thank you to everyone who made this visit such an amazing success. We will definitely be back in the future."
