Eight senior Liverpool players were in international action this weekend.

Glen Johnson was involved throughout as England were held to a 2-2 Euro qualification draw by Switzerland on Saturday, while Pepe Reina played 76 minutes of Spain's 4-0 win over USA in which Fernando Torres netted one of the goals.

Other Reds in action included Lucas Leiva and Dirk Kuyt, who faced off as Brazil warmed up for the Copa America with a goalless draw against Holland. Both our boys left the field midway through the second period.

Up in Iceland, Christian Poulsen came on in the 62nd minute as Denmark beat the hosts 2-0, while Raul Meireles played the full 90 to help Portugal to a 1-0 home victory versus Norway.

Elsewhere, Alberto Aquilani has withdrawn from the Italy squad after sustaining a head injury in the first half of Italy's 3-0 win over Estonia on Friday night. He will miss Tuesday's clash with the Republic of Ireland.

Also injured is Martin Skrtel, who missed Slovakia's 1-0 win over Andorra with a minor thigh problem.

Meanwhile, Emiliano Insua played the second half of Argentina's 2-1 defeat to Poland on Sunday.
