Liverpool Ladies' youth set-up has received Centre of Excellence status from the FA for the 2011-2012 season.

The Liverpool Girls Centre of Excellence is one of only 30 centres throughout the UK to receive an FA Licence.

The club is now inviting young female football enthusiasts to attend its Centre of Excellence trials. Girls aged 17 and under can take part in sessions with centre staff from the end of June.

Liverpool Girls Centre of Excellence has over 60 talented young footballers on its books, providing them with technical and educational programmes designed to enhance skills and personal development. Girls have until Friday 10 June to apply for this year's intake.

Centre director Kevin Quigley said: "Receiving the new licence is fantastic news for the club and testament to all the hard work of our Centre of Excellence staff. We are focused on developing unrivalled training programmes and set-up.

"There are so many talented young female footballers in the region and we're pleased to be able to offer them specialised coaching so that they can maximise their talent and realise their ambitions.

"We're hoping as many girls come to the trials as possible, and who knows, they might one day turn out for Liverpool Ladies themselves."

Trials begin on Monday 13 June and take place at St Edmunds Arrowsmith Centre for Learning in Whiston. The closing date for applications is Friday 10 June.
