Steven Gerrard has confirmed he remains well on course to return to full fitness ahead of the start of next season.

The Liverpool skipper has been out of action since March when he underwent an operation on a groin problem, but he's confident he'll be ready to return when pre-season training starts in preparation for 2011-12.

"I'm doing well. I saw the surgeon this morning and he gave me the green light to push on, so it's all looking good for me to be back for pre-season," said Gerrard.

"I'm a month in and it's a three-month rehab. Things are going well. I just need to progress and push on now, and keep improving."
