Conor Coady today paid tribute to the togetherness of Liverpool U18s after they moved to within one win of the FA Premier Academy Group C title.

A 4-0 victory at Wolves on Tuesday means Rodolfo Borrell's side will top the table if they triumph in their final match of the league season - and the skipper was quick to praise the way his teammates dug deep to claim three crucial points.

Coady told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We've shown a good mentality all season and I think we showed that again against Wolves.

"We suffered the heavy defeat at Everton last week and we were all a bit down about that. So it was nice to bounce back with a draw at Sheffield United and now this victory at Wolves.

"We stuck together and played well as a team. That was the most pleasing thing we took from the day.

"We know we've got some great attacking players in our team and Michael (Ngoo) showed that with his hat-trick. We've got goals throughout this side and it's fantastic to play in it."

Coady's views were echoed by defender Matty McGiveron who is hopeful the U18s will recover in time to produce a similar showing when they host Wolves in the return fixture on Friday morning.

"It was a good team performance," said McGiveron.

"We all battled well. We knew it was going to be a tough test for us. We managed to put a performance together and got the three points we needed.

"We won 4-0 but Wolves gave a good account of themselves. They fought hard and have some good players in their team. We know all about Ikky (Michael Ihiekwe) because he used to play with us here (at Liverpool).

"We can look ahead to our final game on Friday now. I'm not sure if Wolves will put the same team out but we've just got to concentrate on our own performance. We can't worry about them.

"We've got to recover and make sure we are ready. We want the three points and the title - and we will go all out to get them."
