Ladies to host football festival
Football-mad youngsters are being invited to two girls football festivals hosted by Liverpool Ladies FC.
Coaches from the Liverpool FC Centre of Excellence will be attending the festivals, which will take place ahead of Liverpool Ladies next two home games against Chelsea (Sunday, May 1) and Lincoln (Sunday, May 8).
Girls aged six to 12 of any ability and girls teams up to U12s are invited to participate. Liverpool Ladies reserve players along with Centre of Excellence staff will run fun football skills sessions followed by mini-matches.
The free sessions start at 10.30am and last for two hours, ahead of a 2pm kick off. Girls taking part in the sessions will receive free entry to the match.
Liverpool Ladies captain, Vicky Jones, said: "The festivals are a great opportunity for girls to try out their skills, play some football and make friends. It doesn't matter what ability the girls are as the emphasis will be on having fun.
"I was lucky enough to play for a girls team, Halton Girls, when I was younger and not only did it help me develop my skills, it gave me real confidence in pursuing my football ambitions.
"We've noticed that a lot of young girls are attending our matches and are big fans of football. We hope that as many girls as possible will come down ahead of the games and enjoy a kickabout before we play."
Any youngsters wishing to participate have been asked to arrive suitably dressed - shirt, shorts, socks and trainers.
Liverpool Ladies FC are one of the founder members of the new eight-team FA Women's Super League (WSL).
