Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita were both on target for their countries in Thursday's international fixtures.

Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring 11 minutes into England’s 1,000th international match – a Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro at Wembley.

Collecting a pass on the right-hand side of the penalty area, the Liverpool midfielder coolly controlled the ball and drove a finish across goal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain went on to play 56 minutes as the Three Lions won 7-0, a result that confirmed their qualification for next year’s finals.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – who claimed an assist for England’s fifth of the night – started and completed the game while Joe Gomez was introduced as a substitute for the last 20 minutes.

In Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, Keita was on target for Guinea as they took a point from a 2-2 draw away from home against Mali.

The Reds man got the first of his country’s two equalisers on the evening with a rebound finish midway through the second half.

Elsewhere, Sepp van den Berg played the whole match as Netherlands U19s drew 3-3 with their Czech Republic counterparts in a friendly in Katwijk.

There was disappointment for Ki-Jana Hoever, who was suspended as the Dutch were beaten on penalties in their FIFA U17 World Cup semi-final with Mexico.

On Wednesday night, Liverpool forward Sadio Mane played 84 minutes as Senegal claimed a 2-0 win over Congo in their AFCON qualifier.
