Jürgen Klopp expects Sadio Mane to be in 'good shape' when he links up with Liverpool on Monday.

The Senegal international is coming to the end of a 16-day post-season break after reaching the Africa Cup of Nations final with his country last month.

Mane is set to rejoin the Reds following Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City and have his condition assessed before the Premier League campaign begins at home to Norwich City next Friday night.

But the manager anticipates the shortness of his No.10’s break to mean little sharpness will have been lost.

“Let’s have a look at him,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com at the current training camp in Evian.

“How we all know, Sadio had 16 days off – he will be in a good shape. He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t eat too much.

“He had a training programme, maybe after 10 days probably he started with a little bit of running, so I think he will be fine. But we have to see.”
