Jürgen Klopp is hopeful Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita will be available for Liverpool’s Boxing Day clash with Newcastle United at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold has resumed full training after missing the Reds’ last two matches due to a foot issue sustained against Napoli earlier this month.

Keita, meanwhile, was forced from the field during Friday’s 2-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers, but the rib and foot injuries he picked up during the contest are not serious.

Klopp told his pre-match press conference at Melwood: “Trent is back in training, in full training. We will see.

“Nothing new [on Keita] because it is pretty early, [but] nobody said to me so far he cannot train. I expect him back in training.”

Elsewhere, Klopp reported no other fresh injury concerns ahead of the visit of Newcastle, though confirmed Joe Gomez and Joel Matip remain sidelined.
