Virgil van Dijk wants to achieve 'everything possible' with Liverpool.

The Netherlands international joined Jürgen Klopp’s side in time for a second half of the season that sees the Reds fighting for a top-four spot in the Premier League and competing in the Champions League knockout stages.

The latter quest was boosted by an emphatic 5-0 victory at FC Porto in the first leg of their last-16 tie last month, while a 4-1 win over West Ham United at the weekend maintained positive domestic form.

Van Dijk is determined to help drive the club forward – indeed, it was one of the primary reasons he made the move to Merseyside in January.

“I came here to achieve everything possible,” the centre-back told BBC’s Football Focus.

“I made the choice to come here based on everything. I love the fans, the atmosphere in the stadium and at away games. The quality we have in our team is unbelievable. I am proud and happy to be here.”

The No.4 has spoken on several occasions since signing on New Year’s Day about his need to adapt to a different playing style under Klopp.

Despite a series of commanding performances so far, Van Dijk feels that personal process is ongoing – while collective improvement is constant, too.

“I am getting used to how we play. The intensity of our game is a lot higher than what I was used to,” he said.

“Klopp is very good and an amazing guy as well. A lot of the attributes he has makes us achieve good things in the future.”
