Notching a first goal for Liverpool in front of 90,000 supporters at Wembley made it worth the wait for summer signing Sadio Mane.

The Senegal international had featured in each of the Reds’ previous pre-season games before their eighth against Barcelona on Saturday – but without finding the net.

Mane put an end to that with a sumptuous finish in the 15th minute which set his side firmly on their way to an emphatic 4-0 result.

After the game, he told FATV: “I’m very happy to score my first goal, especially in front of the amazing fans at Wembley.

“It’s important to score for the team, especially strikers. Everyone likes to score. I’m also happy for [Divock] Origi and Marko [Grujic] to score for the team. Everybody is happy.”
